No, really! These are the moments you'll remember for the rest of your life, so it's important you make the best decision that you possibly can.

Asheville Engagement Photographer

I was an Asheville wedding and engagement photographer for 7 years before I became engaged myself. And although I had never believed it to matter, going through the process on the other side actually changed a lot of how I worked with my clients. Planning a wedding is brutal and there were so many ups and downs along the way that I couldn't believe it. Being a wedding vendor was totally different from being a bride-to-be. After my own wedding was over, I just let out a huge sigh of relief. And from that moment on, I knew the incredible pressure all of my clients were under for the months leading up to their wedding day.

That's why a huge staple of my business as a wedding photographer is taking some of that pressure off of your shoulders. My brides and grooms know that there is one thing they don't have to worry about and that's their wedding photography. It's always taken care of by myself and my partners. There are so many other things to juggle along the way and my job is to make sure you can trust me unconditionally.

What happens next?

After you get engaged, all the fun (but also all the extremely stressful) stuff begins. One of the first decisions you have to make is finding and booking a wedding photographer. After you do that, your engagement photos go onto the books! Typically, I like to book the session around 6 months or so before the wedding date. That way you can use them for Save The Dates or wedding invitations. It's also a great trial for the two of us to really get to work together, you in front of the camera. I love getting the opportunity to meet and work with my clients before the big day. It is always so nice coming into the bridal suite feeling like a friend from the start!

Choosing Your Engagement Session Location

One of the most common questions I receive is, "Do you have a location in mind?". And the answer is yes. I can definitely help you figure out where you would like to choose as a location. However, they aren't my engagement photos. That's why it's important that you and your partner pick a spot that is meaningful and reflects your story as a couple. For our own engagement photos, we ended up taking our photographer to our favorite local ramen shop. She snapped photos of us sharing a big bowl of ramen and laughing together. It's one of the first restaurants we went to as a couple and it became our go-to date night dinner spot. Having our photos made there really brought out our personalities in the photos. And it's so important that you guys do the same!

A great example is Michaela and Logan's Asheville engagement photos. They met in the same spot that Logan proposed. So it was a no-brainer to do their engagements there as well. Click here if you'd like to read the details, it's a beautiful story!

Our Favorite Asheville Engagement Session Locations

If you do have trouble picking a location, we can still certainly help you pick a spot. We know all the best places around town and will happily give you our favorite recommendations. Here are a few places that we really love:

We really do love the rooftop parking garages downtown. It's for sure our go-to spot for a great view of the city as well as a backside view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We often use it for our Asheville elopements since it's right across the street. If you'd like to see some photos from that location, here is the link to Hanna and Richard's downtown Asheville courthouse elopement.

We also shoot lots of pre-wedding photos at venues such as Overlook Barn and The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa. Your venue is always a great place to choose if you can't decide on another area!
