Michaela wrapped up in Logan as he plants a kiss on her.

Lake Lure engagement photos have become increasingly popular as we've started photographing more weddings at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa. Our clients wholeheartedly just love the atmosphere this little, historic town brings. So because of that, most of our couples choose to do their engagement photos in the same area their wedding will be in. And we love it so much! This blog covers all the details from one of our favorite sessions in the area, and possibly of all time.

Lake Lure Engagement Photos

Michaela and Logan have a unique yet incredibly fun love story. Michaela, a local in Lake Lure, was working her job at the Lake Lure Adventure Company when Logan came to the dock. They spent weeks flirting before finally making their relationship official. They both continued to work at the adventure company and spent their days out on the water together. Within just a short time, he proposed to her. He took her out on the lake, and while it was just the two of them enjoying the water, he asked her to marry him. It's such a special story. And Lake Lure holds so much importance to them, which is why they knew their engagement photos had to represent that.

I drove into town and met the two of them at the dock about an hour and a half before sunset. Then I hopped on the boat with them and out we went! It was so much fun. I was only 3 months postpartum when I shot this session with them. It was my first "work" commitment outing since having my son back in April. I say all this because I can remember looking off across the lake and the wind blowing through my hair. The entire experience was so much fun and it was a great way to return back into the field.

We started in the center of the lake, parking and facing the back of the boat towards the gorgeous, blue mountain view. I got to photograph the couple snuggling together and sharing their memory of the proposal day in the exact spot. How amazing is that?!

Afterward, we drove around for a few minutes searching for a good spot to park and get off for some swimming photos. We decided on a small beach in the shade, where the two of them jumped right into the water. I can't even tell you what a romantic, steamy engagement session this was. This spot was hidden offshore in a private area, and it was just so sweet and calm. They danced around in the water, nuzzling noses and laughing together. It was such a great time!

To end the night, we rode back out to the main lake area to catch the sunset. To our surprise, there was a gorgeous rainbow behind us. And the last photo of the night was of Michaela and Logan jumping into the lake one last time!
