My heart explodes when thinking back to this waterfall elopement in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville is one of the leading destination wedding locations in the entire country. So I consider myself unbelievably lucky to be a local (born and raised in the area). And you can believe that I know all the best secret waterfall spots because of that reason. Perks of being a local! Not only that, but being a wedding photographer in the most popular elopement spot in North Carolina just makes me so incredibly happy. I love a good adventure.
Graveyard Fields and Falls
This elopement in particular was at Graveyard Fields and Falls. Located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, it’s a secret gem. There are two parts to the area: the upper and lower falls. These images were taken at the lower falls. The lower area is much easier to access. Especially if you are in a wedding dress and have your hair and makeup done. Hiking is fun, but not when you are a bride! The hike down is relatively quick. It’s all downhill, so you won’t need to worry about breaking a sweat. Not to mention, LOOK at this view, guys. Water cascades down into a small pool at the bottom. It’s a great spot if you want to hop in the water with your new spouse for some awesome post-wedding photos.
Waterfall Elopement in Asheville
Graveyard Fields and Falls is definitely not the only waterfall option for your Asheville elopement. If you know a little about Asheville, you know most people come to town for the breathtaking views and gorgeous nature surrounding the area. The waterfalls are a big factor when couples are choosing their elopement location. A few of our other favorite waterfall spots are Looking Glass Falls and Linville Falls. All of these sit right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway- Asheville’s bread and butter when it comes to showcasing nature.
