The Homeplace at Johnston Farm honestly blew us off our feet.
Because of COVID, Athena and Joe had to tragically cut their wedding guest count by 1/4th of what they had originally planned.
At the end of the night, we interviewed them to hear about their wedding planning experience. Here is what Athena said:
“Amongst planning our beautiful, memorable big day, we got hit with the COVID 19. It’s not what any bride wants to go through. There was the big debate about whether we should cancel or not due to everyone’s safety. But we cut our numbers down drastically. We went from 158 guests to not even 28 guests.
We decided to continue with the wedding because we wanted to be married. That’s what it’s all about.”
“All the stress leading up, the months of planning. It’s worth it to be husband and wife”

The Homeplace at Johnston Farm
We can’t decide if the star of the venue is the gorgeous, two story barn or the panoramic mountain views. To start with, the open floor plan on the inside of the building is incredible. The second story seats your guests around the main floor, overlooking the dance floor.
Mountain View Wedding Ceremony
Scroll down to see the BREATHTAKING view of the blue mountains. I mean, you seriously won’t believe them. Athena and Joe chose a hanging greenery archway. It looked like a picture frame against the blue sky. We shoot a lot of city weddings. As a result, we always get way too excited when we get to shoot a ceremony overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We can’t wait to return to The Homeplace at Johnston Farm. Until then, scroll down to the bottom to check out all of the awesome vendors that put this day together!
