Last year, Shei reached out to me about her sunset sailboat engagement photos. Originally, we had planned on photographing the Washington, DC wedding. However, the pandemic had other plans and her wedding was canceled. Instead, the two of them eloped in private with their closest friends and family! Although these were actually post-wedding photos, we shot them as if they were their engagement session.
Washington, DC Engagement Photographer
Although we are located in Asheville, we spend lots of time in the city for weddings and engagements. After a year of working as a White House News Photographer, I ended up loving the D.C. area. I still have several bridal clients in the DMV. You can read a little more about me and my story here! I totally photographed the President. However, politics weren’t for me and I moved home to become a full-time wedding photographer in Asheville, NC. No regrets, here. We spend lots of summers in D.C. and I can’t wait to take my little one up once it’s safe to travel again.
Sunset Sailboat Engagement Photos
Shei and Ben wanted to choose a special place for their session with us. I always highly recommend putting thought into the location you choose. It should reflect your love and relationship and embody who the two of you are as a couple. If you need help picking a location, here are a few of my favorite tips.
Sailing on the water was a big part of Shei and Ben’s relationship. They asked if I would be open to going out on the water in their sailboat, and of course, I was so down for it! We ended up staying tied to the dock instead and captured a perfect golden-hour sunset. They brought wine and a charcuterie board and just spent the evening in each other’s company. I seriously couldn’t have planned for anything better.
