Okay, fellow business owners, should you join Clubhouse? So far, that’s the biggest question of 2021 for entrepreneurs. When I first heard of the new app, I kind of rolled my eyes. I mean, do we REALLY need another social media app? The self-employed juggle so many different hats as it is when it comes to online presence. So I was a bit hesitant jumping onto another platform so quickly.
Audio-Chat Social Networking Platform
The platform itself is unlike any other you can find in the app store. It’s completely audio-based. So that means no commenting and no video. But it’s still much cooler than I ever anticipated. A moderator hosts the room and allows people to join if it’s a public space. Once you join, you can simply click the little hand in the bottom right to “raise your hand”. The moderator then pulls you up on stage so you can participate in the discussion.
Aside from the technical logistics of the app, I truly believe it’s a game-changer for the business and creative industry. Especially with COVID canceling all in-person workshops and conferences. We are WPPI regulars. We were so bummed to hear that the conference has been canceled due to the pandemic. However, I’ve found myself hanging out in Clubhouse rooms all day long as I work on my desktop. I keep my notebook beside me and take notes the entire time. It’s an incredible alternative to in-person connecting and learning.
Should You Join Clubhouse?
If you are a business owner, entrepreneur, or creative, then the short answer is yes. You should absolutely find someone who can send you an invitation (as it’s invite-only for the time being). Sounds boujee, huh?
My personal opinion is that this will be the newest, free version of CreativeLive- a live streaming platform tailored for education!
