Mackenzie and Joe hadn’t originally planned on having a Raleigh, NC wedding. When I met them earlier in the year, their hearts were set on sharing the day at the Lake Lure Inn and Spa in Lake Lure, NC. And while that is one of our favorite venues, life had other plans.
COVID-19 had other plans. North Carolina venues were having to make hard decisions due to the pandemic and restrictions. Just weeks before the date, the Inn was forced to temporarily shut it’s doors through this year’s wedding season.
Raleigh, NC Wedding
Because of this, Mackenzie and Joe quickly had to start planning a Raleigh, NC wedding. They decided to wed on a relative’s property a few minutes countryside of the city. They set up their outdoor ceremony underneath a giant oak tree with the sun setting behind them. It was truly an incredible day. Considering all of the turmoil they faced with planning through a pandemic, it went perfectly.
This year had lots of unexpected twists and turns. If you had asked us if our wedding season for 2020 would be filled with blue medical masks and thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer, we would have been shocked. Truly, I have been nothing less than impressed with my couples for bouncing back and staying positive through such a tough time. Most of my clients have completely converted their day into something they never imagined. As a result, they have chosen to elope with just their closest loved ones, doing their best to keep everyone safe with masks and social distancing. Others have had to move their dates completely- postponing their marriage and celebrations entirely.
We have no idea what 2021 will look like. All we know is that this situation cannot stop love from winning, even if it looks a little different than we imagined.
