If you are stuck on picking an engagement session location, here is some of my best advice for making your choice. When it comes down to it, there are a few different factors to making the decision. Firstly, pick a spot that embodies who the two of you are as a couple. It is incredibly important that these photos reflect your personality and show your quirky side. What’s most unique about you both? Was your first date at the local movie theater? Did he propose in front of your favorite waterfall? Is there a specific restaurant the two of you visit weekly? Furthermore, here are a few examples of clients who did a great job picking an engagement session location.
Using What You Love
Sam and Nick picked one of the most special moments I’ve photographed yet. Nick owns a pizzeria in downtown Charlotte, NC. This place was so important to both of them, and they shared a couple of glasses of wine inside the restaurant while sharing their favorite pizza. Making it the most perfect way to show their love!
Shei and Ben also chose a spot that reflected something they loved doing together. They loved spending time on the water and it held a very important meaning to them both. For their session, they just spent time together relaxing in one of their most favorite spots.
Lastly, something I will never turn away, involving your pets. I have six rescue animals in their home. Obviously, I know that pets are family. They might just be the biggest “what you love” piece to your engagement puzzle. And I’m always down for pets and puppy snuggles!
Using Where You Love
Next, if you aren’t interested in bringing a hobby or pet into the shots, you might choose a place to showcase. Courtney and Matt met and fell in love in the city. Charlotte, NC holds a very special place to them and they wanted it captured in their photos. So, we planned a session on the outskirts of the city to capture the skyline in the background!
Shannon and Eddie loved hiking and the outdoors. However, this spot in particular was full of meaning and love to them both. So we hiked up the mountain and captured the sun setting behind them!
Picking An Engagement Session Location
Overall, picking a place to capture your love is always a tough decision. However, I always recommend to my clients to focus on choosing a place that they’ll always hold dear to their hearts. And if you need help deciding, I’ve always got a few secret spots up my sleeve!
