When Wade reached out to me to capture his Biltmore Proposal in Asheville, NC, I was absolutely ecstatic. His girlfriend (now fiancé!) was a childhood friend of mine for many years. Although we lost touch, we never lost our love for one another. But because of that, it was nothing but an absolute pleasure to be picked as their engagement photographer.
Wade secretly contacted me. In his email, he let me know that Allie had no idea he was planning to get down on one knee. So we nailed down the details and planned to meet up on the big day.
The best part about the Biltmore Estate grounds? The seriously unlimited options for locations. It’s one of the biggest reasons my clients choose this location so often. That, and the gorgeous castle centerpiece. But that seems obvious!
However, the rain rolled in that morning and stayed nearly all day. It POURED. Last-minute, we had to change our original location to something that was more rain-friendly. Their friends and family gathered underneath the pergola for the wait. For us, we were waiting across the way in our ponchos! Hiding during a proposal is one of my favorite parts. It makes the excitement all the more enjoyable.
After the session, I asked Allie if she knew the question was coming. She told me she had no idea until she turned the corner and saw all her family waiting. Then she just knew!
We were extremely bummed out about the rainy and gloomy weather. But about 30 minutes after the proposal, the sun decided to finally show up. Just in time for golden hour. We were able to capture an absolutely incredible sunset on the Biltmore front lawn. Scroll down to the bottom see the magic!
